Cómo llegar al Parque Cerro Castillo

AYSEN REGION

Cerro Castillo National Park is located 64 kilometers south of Coyhaique, in the region of Aysén, with the town of Cerro Castillo and Balmaceda closest to its borders.

The international airport of Balmaceda is only 30 minutes away from the trail head of Las Horquetas, following Route 7. The park is shared between two municipalities, being Coyhaique and Puerto Ingenerio Ibanez.

To access the Park, our concession allows visitors to enter the Park through private land in the sectors of Las Horquetas and Estero Parada, where we set up our registration booths (see map).

CHOOSE THE WAY THAT MOST FITS YOU

The following information can help you plan transportation to and from the park as well as travelling in the region.

CAR RENTAL

There are several reliable car rental companies in the region. If you plan to enter the trail head of Estero Parada, we recommend you hire a truck or jeep with 4×4. You can rent a vehicle directly from the Balmaceda airport, or travel to Coyhaique to pick it up at their offices.

HITCHHIKING

Hitchhiking in Patagonia is a relatively common and safe way to travel. It doesn’t guarantee you a place by a certain time, but you’ll find many locals only travelling this way!

Give it try and see who you may meet along the road!

WARNING:

In high season (January-March) there are many backpackers hitchhiking on the Carretera Austral, so we recommend you to have patience, since you will have enough competition on the route!
